Fishing and hunting have always been popular activities in the County. Anglers take their pick of fishing sites in the pristine mountain streams for rainbow, brown and brook trout. Rainbow trout is also often caught in Lake Chatuge, along with largemouth, smallmouth, and white bass; also crappie, walleye, catfish, blue gill, and brim. Local bass clubs hold tournaments on Lake Chatuge. During hunting season, sportsmen can hunt in the mountainous wilderness areas for a variety of wild life, including deer, rabbits, wild boars, turkeys, squirrels, and bear.
