Boating

Boating on Lake Chatuge can be a boater’s paradise, where all types of watercrafts navigate the 130 miles of shoreline.  This includes crafts with outboard and inboard motors (some with 159-plus horse powered engines), pontoon boats, canoes, jet skiis, houseboats, and fishing boats, which are the most numerous.  Small pontoon-equipped airplanes often use the Lake also. Boaters can find launching ramps at Gibson Cove on Myers Chapel Road, at the end of Ledford’s Chapel Road, and directly across from Chatuge Dam off Hinton Rural Life Center Road.
