Young Harris College is a four-year liberal arts college located just over the southern border in Young Harris, Georgia on U.S. Highway 76 West. In 1886, Reverend Artemus Lester founded the college to offer educational opportunities to young men and women living in Appalachia and other areas. During the 2005 academic year, ten students from Clay County attended the College, as many Clay County citizens have done over the years, commuting from home and, upon graduating, receiving Associate Degrees. Graduates can then transfer to other four-year colleges.
