The County supports a number of volunteer fired departments by collecting and distributing a fire tax for maintenance of facilities and equipment. These departments include Hayesville Central, which operates three sub-stations in these Communities: Elf, Fires Creek, and Tusquittee. Others fire departments are in Warne, Brasstown, and Shooting Creek Communities.
