“Colonel” Omar Lee (Bud) Anderson (1879−1925) distinguished himself as a lawyer and a politician. After graduating from Hicks Academy, he continued studying and received a Law degree. He represented Clay County in the North Carolina Legislature and also served as State Senator from his district. Raising flowers was one of Mr. Anderson’s favorite hobbies, and, sadly, while working in his garden, a massive heart attack ended his life.
